Good wine, great company, and candles made by you. Join Olive My Skin for a hands-on candle-making workshop at Aquila’s Nest Vineyard in Newtown, Connecticut.
You'll make your own 9 oz soy candle with a wood wick, plus three tealight candles. Choose one fragrance from three premium seasonal options, or make your candle completely fragrance-free. Our fragrance selections change throughout the year, so returning guests can discover something new.
Laura will guide you through every step of the process. No experience is necessary, and all candle-making supplies are provided. Come with friends, bring someone new, or join us on your own for a creative afternoon at the vineyard.
What Your $40 Ticket Includes
- One 9 oz soy candle with a wood wick
- Three handmade tealight candles
- Your choice of one of three seasonal fragrances, or fragrance-free
- A small glass bottle of wooden matches
- A candle care card with tips for burning and caring for your wood wick candle
- All supplies and approximately 90 minutes of guided instruction
Workshop Details
Location: Aquila’s Nest Vineyard, 56 Pole Bridge Road, Newtown, CT 06482
Dates and times: Select your preferred workshop date from the dropdown menu.
Duration: Approximately 90 minutes.
Ticket: $40 per person.
Vineyard purchase requirement: Each guest must make a minimum $10 purchase from the vineyard during the event, separate from the workshop ticket. Wine and nonalcoholic beverages are available; food trucks may be on-site. No outside beverages are permitted.
Cancellation policy: Non-refundable; future workshop credit only.

Fun event with friends and a glass of wine. I have bought several of their products and love them all.
Overall, the making of candles was pleasant, since it primarily was seeing friends.
It lacked some professionalism in having nothing to put the candles into transport the items. Almost dropped my two candles a few times in leaving. Making our own labels, could have been better, supplied with logo and ready made based on the scent chosen. Marketing with a bag(w/logo) to go and labels builds product recognition and a way to promote, making the investment by provider a worthwhile investment. The buyer leaves feeling they’ve invested in a valuable product and show this to someone else. Word of mouth speaks volumes. I happen to think these things make a difference.
even the most professional people have bad days (considering that my mom had a heart attack and was in ICU) but the show still goes on. I support my clients and customers any way I can. Sorry I forgot to give you a bag. Be kind to others, no one knows what is happening in someone’s life.
